There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their please.
The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.
There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light.
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

Hi Phil,
Notice your new blog entry. It caught my eye on a message that you might be saying.....?
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light.
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.
It's as if one is speaking on two different levels? Like a company no matter how well it does in terms of the "oak's branches," the company will always suffer the same fate according what is adopted into law by consensus, or uniformity?
I think you will understand what I mean most certainly.:)
Best,
Hi Plato,
I see there is little that escapes your notice my friend:-) More seriously you are correct that this post is to express my feelings on two levels, one being as it made most clear if you watch the video which emphasises the current discourse and fracturing within the European union, and the world more generally. However such current events simply expose the symptoms of mankind’s greater ill where sympathy is mistaken for compassion and the need for having one voice equated as being true consensus resultant of the same failing. It has me to think at times that Socrates never existed or at the very least no one existing in the forest to hear his words as to have them to be real.
“Know Thyself”, “The unexamined life is not worth living”
-Socrates
Best,
Phil
